Kenzuoga Fm
Type Locality and Naming
It was named by Zhao Xijin in 1985. The naming locality is situated at the Kenzuoga Village, Xiangdui District, Chaya County, Tibet; with its reference section being located in the area stretching from the Kenzuoga Village to the Gantatong Village.
Synonym: (肯做尕组)
Lithology and Thickness
Lower part is composed largely of dark-violet and violet-brown mudstones, violet-brown and yellow-green sandstones and siltstones, intercalated with grey-black shale and conglomerate. Upper part is mainly of grey-green, grey-violet and brown-red mudstones, intercalated with siltstone, sandstone, conglomerate and sandy conglomerate lenses, with a total thickness of 1437 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It is in a disconformable contact with the underlying Dapuka Fm
Upper contact
Regionally, the schematic strat column indicates the next younger unit as Xiangdui Gr of Cretaceous. This would apply to the Markam region (column TJ35), where the Laoran Fm is the lower formation of the former usage of the Xiangdui Gr in that region and has a discontinuity above the Kenzuoga Fm.
Regional extent
The formation is distributed in the areas of Chaya, Mongkang and Leiwuqi Counties.
